Doctor Who: 11 Iconic Things From Matt Smith's Era

3. Fish Fingers And Custard

Fish Fingers And Custard Still Fish Fingers and Custard. While I may have just broken the hearts of any Whovian reading this, at the same time, fish fingers and custard were incredibly important during the Doctor€™s time with the Ponds, and have become an iconic food for Whovians. In the show it€™s used as something sacred that Amy can swear on and the Doctor believes what she€™s saying, and it€™s used as something to give the Doctor hope when he needs it. What started out as something funny and weird for his new mouth turned into something that he and Amy shared throughout their time together, and is truly a beacon for the show. For Whovians, fish fingers and custard was one of the first things we experienced with Eleven. The dish that really shouldn€™t work (and from what I€™ve heard, actually does) is finally what gives Eleven the snack he€™s been craving. It€™s weird, kind of gross, and looks like it shouldn€™t go together, but it€™s perfect for him. Steven Moffat has even said in an interview that had David stayed on for another season, it would not have been fish fingers and custard, so this snack is 100% Matt€™s, and was the first thing we learned about the new Doctor. So there's a fact for you €“ apparently, Matt Smith likes strange snacks.

I'm currently attending my local college while trying to figure out who I am. I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, really any BBC show. I've also been told I'm a bit of a nerd. Specifically, a theatre nerd.
