Doctor Who: 11 Iconic Things From Matt Smith's Era

7. Tardis On A Cloud

Doctor Who Tardis Cloud I may be the only one who will really tie this to Eleven, but for me, this was such a telling moment of this Doctor. When Ten lost Rose, we got the sad goodbye but then it jumped right back into the show, with only fleeting lines referencing his companion's departure. We never got to see him mourn anyone. I don€™t know about Classic Who, if they ever showed the Doctor mourning someone, feel free to talk about it in the comments, but for me, while Ten is often described as the most €œhuman€ Doctor, this is the must humany-wumany thing the Doctor has done in the New Who Era. The thing I always think about €“ and would love to know the answer to €“ is the fact that we don€™t know how long it had been since the Ponds had left. With space being so timey-wimey and him being in Victorian London and not the modern day, we have no idea how long he had been living on a cloud. Long enough, though, that we saw Madame Vastra, Jenny, and Strax oppose what he had been doing. Having an episode where we truly saw the Doctor mourn for what he had lost in his immediate past and over the last 900 years, was something that stands out for Eleven. Naturally, Matt plays serious roles as well as he plays his funny roles, so all of our hearts broke. Also I€™m a Les Miserables fan so having the Tardis (a Castle) on a cloud made for a wonderful excuse to sing Castle on a Cloud from Les Miserables.

I'm currently attending my local college while trying to figure out who I am. I love Doctor Who, Sherlock, really any BBC show. I've also been told I'm a bit of a nerd. Specifically, a theatre nerd.
