11. Dr Who Character Wallpaper The Master
By: RedAntQueen There are many, too numerous to mention in fact, examples of made-for-wallpaper pictures on DeviantART. Many of them are good; some are simply excellent. It is difficult to achieve the right level that makes you want to see the same art every time you login, or gaze over it for yet another moment when you're getting worn down after a day's skiving on the job. This achieves that happy balance. It's in the mixed media category, so that could mean anything. Essentially though, it's all about the composition and this has what it takes. It's not sentimental and, believe me, too much of that cloying stuff in fan art sticks to you like napalm in the end. This picture simply takes a memorable quote from the show, artfully arranges meaningful paraphernalia from the episode such as the Toclafane here and hey presto, beautiful composition. A mysterious blue eye fading toward the background nicely contrasts the red. That addition gives something to ponder, nicely rescuing the whole idea from lapsing into that other disaster of ill-conceived fan art: forgettable eye candy.
