Doctor Who: 20 Genius DeviantART Creations You Need In Your Life
20. Starry Starry Night
By: sueworld In this picture the artist has very nicely rendered the entire scene using impressionistic brush strokes. It is a good example of how to correctly use the filters and other tools in various editing software. Too many times would-be renderers manipulate their palettes competently, but never notice that what they come up with does not make sense, or is ham-fisted. This artist really does excel at sensitivity, brilliantly stitching together a random pile of electrons into a picture. It is one of two 'tribute' pieces in this list, which demonstrate that composition is everything. Several elements from the episode, Vincent and The Doctor are knitted together into one big harmonious whole. Your eye follows the circle of features as it is led seamlessly from region to region of the canvas. If you've watched the episode then the picture is freshly evocative of its look and feel. As a lot of good art often does, it also tries to give us a message. Thankfully, that's done not too heavy-handedly. Vincent makes it clear that not only have cornfields and crows coloured his life, but also has The Doctor.
