Doctor Who: 5 Good Things About Day Of The Doctor (And 5 Bad)

5 Things That Worked The Best

5. It Fills In The Story Gap Between Modern And Classic Who

The Four Doctors Ever since it was first mentioned in the Davies era, the broadly-sketched Time War was a loose thread linking the past run of the show to the present period of history. It was a great idea that changed the way Doctor Who would play out, but it was never elaborated on enough in order to truly get a feel for how horrible the event actually was. Of course, forming a cohesive story link out of 50 years of material might seem daunting to most. Steven Moffat would merely call it a Monday though, as he seems to delight in facing down story challenges that could either make or break the fan's faith in the show. Most importantly, Moffat is giving away Regeneration scenes like they're candy this year. With that zealous attitude of getting everything on camera, Moffat made sure that we got to see a regeneration between Hurt and Eccleston, thus closing the gap in regeneration scenes and a 19 year gap of official story. Plus, bonus points for Moffat's canonization of the Big Finish audio dramas as well.
