4. Two Key Cameos Made The Night
On the other side of the spectrum from Eccleston's brush off, two actors that didn't need to appear to the extent that they did made appearances that night. In the case of Tom Baker, they could have gotten him to voice some sort of quip involving the climactic sequence of all 13 of the Doctors making Gallifrey disappear from our universe. Yet there he was, hinting that The Doctor might just visit old forms for fun and curation purposes, in an appearance that was as adorable as it was surprising, despite the fact that he said he was going to be in it the week before air. But perhaps the bigger surprise was that of Peter Capaldi's eyes making a cameo during that same sequence mentioned earlier. Here's a man that doesn't technically need to show up until the Christmas special to do his job, and yet he can spare a quick glance of steely resolve to make the fans scream in delight at their TVs. Both appearances are a sure sign that while it's going to be a sad day when Matt Smith regenerates, we still have an exciting future to look forward to.
