Doctor Who: 6 Amazing Things About 'The Night Of The Doctor'

2. It's More Eighth Doctor

Doctor Who Eighth Doctor Apart from Colin Baker, Paul McGann drew the shortest straw of all the Doctors. Although he's appeared in a huge number of Big Finish Audios since 2001 and the Eighth Doctor has been included in nine years of comic strips in Doctor Who Magazine, McGann got less than an hour of screentime in the 1996 TV Movie. A 90 minute film that was his only appearance and, since then, he has only appeared onscreen through stock images and archive footage from that film. So to see him brought back into the fold after a seventeen year gap is simply incredible. And even though Paul McGann was only back for seven minutes, it's like he never even left. He effortlessly falls back into the role and does an amazing job as both the normal exuberant Eighth Doctor and the more hardened version of him after Cass's death as he finally takes the plunge and becomes the War Doctor. Then again I suppose playing the Doctor so well comes naturally after starring in twelve years' worth of audio plays. A lot us have wanted more Eighth Doctor for a long time and, even though it was only seven minutes, we finally got it. Now we just need an Eighth Doctor miniseries. Even if it's straight-to-DVD. Come on, BBC. Get cracking.
