Doctor Who: Ranking The Introductions Of Every Doctor

1. Rose

Run! The first word uttered by a new Doctor in the relaunch of Doctor Who. Back from its long hiatus, from episodic television, in 2005, the Ninth Doctor and Rose would never stop running in a superb first series. It all started with "Rose", an episode where the Autons have returned to take over Earth. The Russell T Davies penned script dodged the pitfalls of the American movie and introduced Doctor Who to a new audience in the perfect way - continuity-lite with a good story. Christopher Eccleston was the perfect choice as the Ninth Doctor with a performance where you truly believe in this alien Doctor. There's enough wit and charm to counter his darker moments and it's no wonder many enjoyed his portrayal. The northern swagger, in the leather jacket, commanded your attention and you were willing to give it to him. Davies wrote in "The Writer's Tale" that he felt there were some in the BBC who had hoped the relaunch would fail. With "Rose" and many other great episodes to come, this was never going to happen. As introductions in Who go, there is no topping this one... so far. Fantastic! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WX-R1lfycmw
