Doctor Who: 10 Billie Piper Songs That Are Basically About Rose

4. The Tide Is High

Although this isn't Billie's original song (it was made for the Jamaican group The Paragons before being released to mainstream success by Blondie), it was quite clearly written with the intention of her one day covering it before playing the role of a character whose defining moment would take place on a beach. After all, Rose Tyler wasn't the kind of girl who gives up just like that - as Doomsday proves. The tide is a metaphorical one in the song, of course, but on DÃ¥rlig Ulv-Stranden it was quite real. And guess what? Rose was holding on - emotionally, physically, etc. She would've done anything to get back to the Doctor but all she initially had to do was travel to the seaside in Norway (or, more appropriately, get her ever faithful family to take her there). Their reunion on Bad Wolf Bay - this one, at least - was to be short lived, though, because the Doctor only been haunting her dreams for the past several months to say goodbye and not "I love you", which still infuriates certain fans to this very day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tl-alu0HYYA Let's face it, with lines such as "I'm gonna be your number one" and "Every girl wants you to be her man", this song was pretty much made for the Doctor and Rose and it's nice to think that this was destiny's way of telling Billie what was to come. It certainly adds a new vibe to the proceedings if you play it over the Doomsday beach scene. Save that one for a rainy day.
