Doctor Who: 10 Exciting Things Fan Already Know About Series 9
8. There Will Be More Two-Parters...
Fans have been calling for more two-parters (believe it or not but our last one, prior to the Series 8 finale, was all the way back in 2011) and Steven Moffat has confirmed that Series 9 will finally see our dreams come true. Hurrah! It's exciting, really, because the show's plots are becoming so ambitious that 45 minutes just don't cut it... or rather, they do cut it, which is exactly why it just isn't enough time to do the story justice. It was one of the biggest criticisms of Series 8, after all. It wasn't that the episodes weren't good, they were just far too short to establish and develop the narrative efficiently, but that's Saturday nights on BBC One for you. The episodes ultimately ended up being rushed but with more two-parters on the way, they've effectively got 90 minutes to play with. Which is very exciting new for us, save the excruciating wait that will follow after each cliffhanger. It adds to the anticipation, though.
