4x07-Unicorn-and-the-Wasp-doctor-who-21209187-1600-900 Let€™s be honest with ourselves. A lot of Doctor Who is completely ridiculous. It€™s ridiculousness that€™s well told by and large and always worth watching, but at the end of the day€. well, any show that can Feature both the Zarbi AND Julian Glover as King Richard one week apart from one another€ A lot of Doctor Who is completely ridiculous. That€™s all I€™m saying. And so I treasure those moments when we stop for a second and acknowledge the fact. In The Unicorn and The Wasp, when Donna goes to have a quiet and well intentioned sit down with Agatha Christie, shortly after being menaced by a giant wasp (did I mention that the show is frequently ridiculous?) Together, they take a moment to bond over how painful it is to be cheated on. This is only slightly impeded by Donna€™s straightforward relating of the exact circumstances of how she was cheated on. And yet it works beautifully, because no matter how ridiculous the circumstances, the emotion and pain behind the stories are the same. It is, to quote Agatha herself, the most wonderful nonsense. And the emotion behind it only reinforces the humor of the moment.
