Doctor Who: 10 Lessons It Can Learn From The Thick Of It

3. Some People Love To HateScreen Shot 2013-08-10 at 2.29.02 AM In the face of an election that may well (and does) oust his party from Downing Street, Malcolm delivers a rousing speech to stir the spirits of his politically doomed coworkers. He announces that it doesn't matter what some people say about them because some people are just inherently inclined to be hateful. There's nothing that he or they can do about those people, Malcolm argues, but they can sure as hell believe in everyone else. This is actually one of Malcolm's few straightforward rants, and it contains a good message for the producers of Doctor Who: no matter what they do with the show, there are some people who are going to find something wrong (and probably be very vocal about it). The angry and hateful among the fans may be the loudest, but Doctor Who just needs to remember that those are not the only fans watching.

Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
