3. The Rings Of Akhaten
This one has made the list purely because it features one of the Eleventh Doctor's most defining moments. Who doesn't love his epic speech at the end of what was otherwise a pretty mediocre episode? It's worth sticking with this one purely for his momentous monologue alone but it's also standoutish for being Clara Oswald's first adventure aboard the TARDIS (that is, as the Clara Oswald fans know and love today). She wanted to see something awesome and something awesome she definitely got when the titular Time Lord whisked her off to the inhabited rings of the planet Akhaten where the Festival of Offerings was in full swing. Sounds like the party to end all parties, right? As usual, though, there was a formidable force - in this case it was the planet of Akhaten itself - getting in the way of the festivities. There's not really much else to say about this one which is probably why it's often forgotten, although if you love seeing a plethora of weird and wonderful alien species - à la Series 1's The End of the World - then you're definitely in for a treat. As mentioned, though, it builds up to an brilliant climax which makes it all worthwhile. In fact, its conclusion has gone down in Doctor Who history as one of the most memorable moments of Matt Smith's TARDIS tenure and that's got to count for something, right? One thing is for sure. That song will be stuck in your head for the rest of time itself. And then for even longer after that.
