Doctor Who: 10 New Things They Can Do With Clara

9. Clara Can Move Into The Tardis And Become A Proper Travelling Companion

Doctor Who Clara Tardis

From the theoretical, to the obvious, perhaps. After the events of ''The Name Of The Doctor' Clara would have to do one of two things. Run screaming and fight for a normal life...nah. We've seen that fire in her eyes, that intrigue and desire for adventure. More likely she'll go with option two. (And considering she'll be having adventures alongside Capaldi's Twelfth, it's a certainty). She'll decide that life on Earth is too small for her and move into the Tardis full time. This will be the best thing for her and the show. While I became quite fond of the companions' recurring families during the Russell T Davies Years, (Jackie grew on me, so did Sylvia and Wilf was a joy to behold) I appreciated the move away from this pattern under Steven Moffat's tenure. It harked back to the days of classic Who, where a companions would drop their old life and spend two to three years journeying with the Doctor across time and space. Amy and Rory did it (until their final months/years). Clara needs to do this to. Why? Well because I couldn't possibly sit through another episode with those kids anymore. They didn't really bother me at first. They added depth to Clara by making her a maternal figure. But they positively ruined Neil Gaiman's 'Nightmare In Silver'. I'm not one to advocate violence towards children - I'm a father to two children who I adore - but if they'd had their brains cut out and deposited into a cyber-suit and then blown to smithereens in the final explosion...I can't say I would have been too upset. But joking aside, Clara needs to grow know until a fully-fledged character. We know her origin. And we know what made her the 'impossible girl'. I think the resolution to that mini-arc was rather brilliant. But now she needs to move on. And to do that, she needs to live in the Tardis, with the Doctor and spend the rest of her days on the show hopping from one planet / time period to another. Which takes me to my next point...
