Doctor Who: 10 One-Off Villains That Need To Return

1. Sutekh The Destroyer €“ Pyramids Of Mars (1975)

Doctor Who Sutekh Arguably, the measure of villain can be determined by not only what they achieve but how much they achieve when restricted. Davros created the Daleks despite being wheelchair-bound and having the use of only one arm. Time Lord scientist Omega controlled an anti-matter world despite his body slowly disappearing. And Sutekh? He masterminded an almost successful attempt to free him from his prison on Mars. While completely immobile and stripped of almost all of his power. To put it simply, Sutekh is insane. He fears all forms of life that may challenge him and so embarked on a ceaseless quest to destroy anything he perceived as a threat. But despite being a complete nutter, Sutekh is a master of manipulation even with most of his God-like powers suppressed. At full power, he is nothing but a major threat to anything that crosses his path. He€™s the perfect villain for the finale of a future series of Doctor Who. As well as that, the design of Sutekh, although kind of simplistic in hindsight, has a really regal and elegant feel to it. Just looking at Sutekh, he does appear powerful and God-like. Even if, when unmasked, he looks about as threatening as a chicken vol-au-vent. But the key to the success of Sutekh is the stunning performance by Gabriel Woolf, who later reprised the role in 2004 for a comedy DVD extra. Sutekh can really only be played by Gabriel Woolf. And he€™s not getting any younger. So get on with it, Moffat and bring the last of the Osirians back to the Doctor Who fold. We€™re happy to kneel before the might of Sutekh.
