9. Dream A Little Dream Of Me
Clara chooses to create a scene of domestic bliss but her grief is so fresh she cannot dream Danny Pink without reliving his sacrifice. Her mind knows that he will always give himself up to save her and so he does. Dreams are paradoxical as they also obscure while they reveal. What a person cannot deal with on a conscious level is deconstructed while they sleep. Humans shroud the exposure of innermost secrets in symbol and metaphor yet it is through these devices that they come to understand the truths that lie beneath. A storytellers job is to create a waking dream and Steven Moffats scripts are filled with layers of circular meaning. They are rich and rewarding if one is willing to slip beneath the surface and seek out the hidden connections contained therein. Everybody dreams of the things they have lost and at some point must decide whether to descend into dark depression or fight our way back into the light.
