Doctor Who: 10 Time Periods We’d Love Them To Visit

7. The Wars Of The Roses: 1455-1485

War Of The Roses I truly cannot believe this has never been done before. Medieval settings never seem to go out of fashion, and the first names that come to mind in British Medieval history are the likes of Henry V, Edward IV and Richard III. This period of King vs. King and Lancaster vs. York is kept alive at Medieval festivals all across Britain. It also inspired a great deal of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones," not that Who could ever repeat some of what goes on in that! Of course, Doctor Who has done Medieval before, but I'm really focusing on the history here. There are truly great characters to be exploited in a story about these conflicts. Warwick the Kingmaker ended up imprisoning both King Edward IV and Henry VI at once; Richard III was a much bolder and less villainous figure than Shakespeare made him out to be. A trip to the 1400s could allow the show to portray this famous period in an honest light, and there are many possible storylines to choose from.

I am a history student and writer, pursuing a career in film and literature. I also love Star Wars, Doctor Who and many other film, TV and game franchises. It always interests me to hear what people have to say about films and TV shows, and I’m fascinated by new perspectives. I’d welcome any feedback and comments you might have as well!
