Doctor Who: 10 Writers Who Should Never, Ever Return

6. Paul Cornell

Witty banter. The Doctor hates banter. And Paul Cornell is well known for it. There isn't an episode he's written that doesn't include witty dialogue. Though, you don't want to use your head too much because after all, it's only just the telly. Even so, he certainly likes experimenting with rift-in-time/over the top overly complicated villains and plotlines (and you thought Satan Steven Moffat was the king of complex stuff!), which doesn't really strike as something Doctor Who should be about. It's not in the "spirit" of the show. Come to think of it, it's actually rather nice to have vaguely anthropomorphic dinosaurs and weird monsters in the place of good old aliens. Plus, Paul might've brought out the best in the Doctor's character, which is something you should refrain from seeing more of.
