Young Charlotte Lux is played by Eve Newton, who, according to her IMDB page, hasn't done any more acting work since appearing in Doctor Who - and that might be because she was completely traumatised by director Euros Lyn's approach to making her cry.

According to Gardner, Lyn was utterly "ruthless". He would whisper to Newton about "the saddest things, and people dying, and losing people" in order to get Newton to show the right amount of emotion during her crying scenes. Poor kid.

According to Tennant, this was also the first time that Newton had cried on camera, which must've made the whole situation even more difficult.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for almost nine years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. He has been writing and video editing for 10+ years, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers and uploading them to YouTube (they're admittedly a bit rusty by today's standards). If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order or to tell you about the making of 1988's Remembrance of the Daleks, Danny is the person to ask.
