Doctor Who: 9 Reasons Why Peter Jackson Directing Is A Brilliant Idea

4. He Knows How To Work Within His Means

We think of Peter Jackson today as a man who has produced some of the world€™s biggest blockbusters but he started out much more humbly, creating many low-budget films before he ever achieved mainstream success. He has kept to his roots, resisting Hollywood pressure and investing in his home country of New Zealand. A Doctor Who director better be fairly creative with his money because he€™s probably not going to have a whole lot to work with. This isn€™t a bad thing though; creativity springs from necessity, seldom from overabundance. Conversely, Jackson isn€™t afraid to fight for what he needs. He stands up to studio executives, and even fought with the New Zealand Film Commission over several issues for a time. A return to a lower-budget feature might even re-energize him as one has the sense that working with big Hollywood budgets, something Jackson has done as both director and producer, must certainly be soul killing at times when endeavoring not to compromise artistic vision for monetary gain.
