Doctor Who: Matt Smith's 10 Greatest Moments

8. Let€™s Kill Hitler -€œYou Named Your Daughter€ After Your Daughter€€

Dr Who nazi A strong point of the Doctor, specifically Eleven, is that of a firm grip on the world around him and a pure understanding of the blissful crazy that Moffat (the show€™s main writer and responsible for many British tears) has dreamed up for him. Because of that, whenever the Doctor becomes confused, I become extremely happy. The best example of this is in the story arc-heavy moments of the 6th season, which is the most mind-boggling timey-wimey wibbily-wobbly story that Doctor Who has ever attempted. In the middle of the first act of the eighth episode, €˜Let€™s Kill Hitler€™, Amy and Rory€™s friend from their childhood Mels, whom they named their stolen child Melody Pond after, is brought along to an accidental mission to kill Adolf Hitler before he started the Holocaust. Mels is shot, and begins to regenerate, and regenerates into River Song, a part-time companion of both Ten and Eleven. A robotic police force called the Teselecta (which I will get to soon) is also there, previously on a mission to kill Hitler as well, but now to kill River Song for a mysterious crime. And this entire time Rory has locked Hitler in a cupboard. I still don€™t understand all of season 6, and this is the easiest part of the main story to get down-brilliantly coming in on a two minute session of Eleven attempting to figure out the entire situation to no true avail.
