Doctor Who Review: Dark Water - 7 Ways To Deal With The Devil

5. Death Is Cheap

Dr. Chang is the minister at the funeral who rhapsodizes about the deceased in terms everyone knows is untrue even as they€™re nodding in agreement. He doesn€™t espouse the ideology with much personal conviction but he is committed to appearances. Even his plea for his own life rings false, as if he is trying to convince himself of his own worth. Seb is reminiscent of a funeral director pushing an overpriced coffin. He€™ll say anything to get you to buy into what he is selling. He is feral smiles and fake sympathy. He is relentless in his quest to exploit Danny€™s vulnerability. Why, however, is Danny offered a choice? Traditionally the cybermen aren€™t big on asking their victims permission. Is this Missy€™s idea of some kind of perverse game? Or is there a reason Danny must be willing to give up the part of himself that made him human?
