Doctor Who Series 10: Everything You Need To Know

Another important step in a companion’s travels with the Doctor is the first journey back in time, and such an opportunity comes up early in the series for Bill.

Episode 3, by Sarah Dollard, sees the Doctor take his new companion to London in the winter of 1814, when the Thames is frozen over and the final frost fair is held. They even dress up for the occasion, with the Doctor sporting a natty top hat, but it doesn’t stay a fun day out for long (it never does...); the story is rumoured to involve a giant serpent living underneath the Thames.

Another trip into history takes place later in the series; Rona Munro’s Episode 9, titled The Eaters of Light, is set in the times of the Roman Empire, possibly in the fields of Caledonia (or, as it’s now known, Scotland). I have a suspicion that the time travellers’ trip there won’t end quite so peacefully, either, based both on previous Doctor Who episodes and on previous trips we’ve taken to Scotland.
