Doctor Who Series 10: Everything You Need To Know
6. ...And Into A Parallel World

Doctor Who does Post-Truth! Set photos from Episode 8 have shown what seems to be a modern-day Earth setting except for soldiers driving a vehicle marked ‘Memory Police’, creepy figures wearing red robes over rotting skin, and posters depicting these figures with the slogan ‘TRUTH’ – all hinting at a 1984-esque dystopian version of Earth. Not even Bill’s university, a recurring setting in the series, is safe from these twisted decorations.
This sounds like a very timely and political story, with the real world looking ever more grim and the likes of ‘fake news’ and certain dishonest politicians meaning we should always be questioning what’s really the truth.
Some of Doctor Who’s best stories have been politically satirical; last series' Zygon story was an excellent commentary on modern warfare and the plight of refugees, and Steven Moffat has since expressed a desire to make this new series even more up to the minute. I can’t wait to see what writer Toby Whithouse, who has written six previous episodes for three different Doctors, will do with the concept.
