4. Patty The Parselmouth

Harry Potter The Simpsons
Fox

In The Book Job, Lisa meets T.R. Francis, author of the Angelica Button series and her personal hero. However, it turns out that Francis is merely a character, and the woman herself a model simply used for the sleeve of the book. Lisa's world falls apart as the entire publishing industry is picked apart in front of her.

Using the Angelica Button series as a spoof of Harry Potter, we see executives mapping out their strategy of pairing a witch with an English accent to make mega money. We see Comic Book Guy's Hagrid outfit again, and are shown that there is not one author for the series, but a bunch lit majors churning out page after page.

It's a funny twist on the immense popularity of Harry Potter, explaining the phenomenon by saying the plots are based on market research rather than any kind of creativity. The episode even shows Patty as having an obsession with fantasy novels, and being fluent in Parseltongue.

The rest of the episode revolves around Homer and his crew of Bart, Skinner, Moe, Patty, and Professor Frink coming up with a book of their own, and at one point pitch the idea of an orphan boy who attends a magical school before realising he is special.
