Every Inside No. 9 Episode Ranked From Worst To Best

27. Private View

Inside No 9
BBC

Plot: Some guests at an art exhibition are murdered one by one in an And Then There were None-style scenario.

Location: An art gallery.

In hindsight, it would've been better to make Private View the show's first double-length episode. As great as the concept is, half an hour just isn't quite long enough to fully explore this idea and it does feel rushed at times.

Nonetheless, the episode is still as well-written and well-acted as you'd expect and it still makes for a thoroughly entertaining murder mystery with a great cast of characters. In terms of stand-outs, Peter Kay makes a very funny cameo as the first murder victim and Fiona Shaw is absolutely superb as one of the other guests.

The killer's identity is revealed too early and the very final scene is pretty unclear, but the rest of the episode's finale is excellent. On the whole, the rushed pacing prevents it from ranking in the top-tier of Inside No. 9, but it's still a dark delight and very fun to watch.
