Fear The Walking Dead: 10 Mistakes The Show Can't Afford

4. Don't Copy Storylines

Fear will surely go down a different path to TWD - it has to. However, when you have two shows set in the same world with the same disaster, things will appear similar. Of course, the walkers remain roughly the same (albeit 'fresher') but the writers should stay well clear of re-treading old ground. They should expect fans to go into the new series with some knowledge of the parent show, and therefore don't need to dwell for too long on the basics. Of course, it needs to be a fresh start but without the 'tutorial' so to speak, at the beginning. Throwing the audience into the action would work, and once the show is up and running, don't just settle for the same storylines as TWD. Make it original.
