So, despite the awkward forcing of multiple character narratives together, Gendry's ability to cross the realm in less than 12 parsecs and all the other lazy writing that accompanied the later seasons, there was nevertheless some breathtaking moments in the later days of Thrones. Breathtakingly bad...

There were several things that happened during this episode that really took the biscuit. Firstly the season long rift between Arya and Sansa (that came out of nowhere) was given a underwhelming conclusion when it was revealed they were working together all along. What a cop out that was!

The culmination to the unsatisfying ending to an unsatisfying plotline was Littlefinger's death. This was the puppet master of the entire war, the guy who was moving all the pieces, suddenly outsmarted because the writers needed to get rid of him.

The final scene was such a spectacle. The impregnable bastion of defence, the one thing that could keep the White Walkers at bay, the magical and mythical Wall was brought crashing down in a torrent of ice. But, like the Wall, the scene fell flat.

It's unlikely that even Bronn could have impregnated that b*tch, however, Bronn didn't have an ice dragon... The moment when the Night King turned up on Viserion could have been so much more, but the reveal of the dragon's resurrection had already been spoiled in the previous episode.
