Game of Thrones: 10 Storylines So Boring They'll Put You To Sleep

9. Theon In The Torture Chamber

Labelling a storyline about torture dull make might sound a bit sniffy. Theon's bits were chopped off and sent to his own family, yet at times this thread got a little repetitive. Crazy, right? Sure Theon deserved his comeuppance, and it was necessary to show the psychological cruelty of Ramsay in order for us to understand Theon's gradual transformation into Reek, but this was far from perfectly handled. Having Theon put his trust in his tormentor time and time again, only to be punished once more, became too predicable. Also there is only so much an audience can handle of the sort of torture and violence that featured so heavily here. Not that the audience need to be protected, just some of it could have been skipped. Perhaps it would have been more effective to have the bulk of the torture take place offscreen. Another problem is the effect of this storyline on the rest of the show. Are these two characters really going to have a major say on the fate of Iron Throne? Perhaps not. With that in mind, it might have been better to give more time to some of the major players.
