Game of Thrones: 7 Dead Or Missing Characters Who Could Return

3. Mance Rayder

Yes, we did just see Mance Rayder burning to death on Melisandre€™s funeral pyre, before being put out of his misery thanks to an arrow through the heart from Jon Snow. The King Beyond-The-Wall is definitely dead, everyone saw it happen, didn€™t they? That is exactly what we€™re led to believe in the books too, with even Jon thinking Mance is dead. It is not until the Stark bastard receives word that Arya is to be married to Ramsay Bolton that Melisandre reveals she used her powers to make Rattleshirt appear as Mance, and vice versa, and that it was the former who really died. Mance subsequently rides to Winterfell to attempt a rescue of Arya (who is in actuality Sansa€™s friend Jeyne Poole). It is said in a letter to Jon from Ramsay that Mance has been captured. We haven€™t seen too much of Rattleshirt in the show, but he has appeared so could still fulfil his role, or have it replaced by another wildling. The bigger issue is whether the show wants to develop Melisandre€™s magic to that point. If so, then it€™s conceivable that the storyline could continue, with Mance riding to rescue Sansa instead, and that we will once again see the leader of the Free Folk.
