Game Of Thrones: 9 Early Predictions For Season 7
2. Jaime Will Kill Cersei
"Gold shall be their crowns and gold their shrouds. And when your tears have drowned you, the valonqar shall wrap his hands about your pale white throat and choke the life from you."
Although the valonqar part of Maggy the Frog's prophecy was left out of the show (for now, anyway), it's still expected that it will play her part in her ultimate downfall. Daenerys may be her immediate threat, but the Khaleesi isn't going to be the one who kills her.
There are a few candidates for that honour (valonqar means 'little brother' in High Valyrian, but that in itself doesn't necessarily account for gender, so it could just be any younger sibling): Arya is one of the favourites, as is Tyrion, and the Hound was before Cleganebowl failed to happen.
The best, though, is Jaime. He's the younger twin, meaning he fits the idea of being the little brother, and his arc has been all about redemption and his love for Cersei, and it's probably going to come down to those two things in the end. He arrived back in King's Landing to see Cersei being crowned Queen, having burnt down part of the city. She'd just become everything he killed Aerys - and sacrificed his reputation for - to stop. The tragedy is that he's probably going to have to do it all again, and this time it'll be the woman he loves. Cersei is prophesied to die, and now that all her children are dead the time is right (it's unlikely Cersei will have a part in the ultimate battle).
Jaime being the one to kill her makes sense; he'd be doing it for her own sake, to end her madness, and for the sake of Westeros. The things we do for love.
