Game Of Thrones: Ranking Every Season 6 Storyline From Worst To Best
3. Battle Of The Bastards
Key Characters: Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Ramsay Bolton, Davos Seaworth, Petyr Baelish, Melisandre, Tormund Giantsbane, Lyanna Mormont, Rickon Stark, Osha, Roose Bolton
Best Moment: Sansa gets her revenge on Ramsay by feeding him to his own dogs.
Worst Moment: Ramsay descends further into caricature by murdering Osha.
The Battle of the Bastards is the second greatest battle scene in all of Game of Thrones history, falling only behind the horror and spectacle of Season 5's Hardhome. This in itself assures this storyline is immediately among the best of Season 6. Sansa's satisfying execution of Ramsay is the cherry on top of a fantastic battle.
The battle itself is incredible, with masterful directing and editing. In the aftermath, new best character ever Lyanna Mormont gives one of the all time greatest speeches in the history of the show, proclaiming Jon Snow to be the King of the North! Yes, after years upon years of misery for the Starks, it seems they are finally able to get a win. All of this is cause to celebrate.
The problems with this storyline center around Ramsay. Nothing he did ever shocked the viewers anymore. Murdering his whole family? Stabbing Osha? Killing Rickon? None of this progressed his character in the slightest. Despite Iwan Rheon's excellent performance, Ramsay had become increasingly stale. He was more of an amalgamation of evil traits rather than an actual person.
Also, Rickon runs in a straight line. Idiot.
