Game Of Thrones Season 6: 10 Big Questions We're Asking After 'The Red Woman'

1. Will This Tie Into Jon's Resurrection?

Game of Thrones Melisandre
HBO

Although part of Melisandre's true self being shown was because it is a big reveal and shocking moment, there are a couple of other, more important reasons for it.

The first is that it shows how far Melisandre has fallen. She backed Stannis, but then he was killed, while she saw Jon in her flames and he too was murdered. She's lost all that she'd been fighting for since we met her, and her faith has been completely shaken, so taking off the necklace and presenting herself as she really appears is a sign of that.

The other reason is that it's a timely reminder of Mel's power. If she's capable of producing such a strong glamour, one no one is capable of seeing through and makes her look so different, then what else is she capable of? Namely, is she powerful enough to bring Jon Snow back? Although glamour magic isn't the sort that brings a person back to life, it's a gradual increase in the magic we've seen from the Red Priestess, meaning if she does take that next step it'll be more believable.
