6. Gregor The Mountain Clegane

HBOThe Mountain can be considered to be the perfect storm of a warrior a man who is enormously big and strong, technically skilled with his lamppost of a great sword and utterly ruthless. Though both Clegane brothers are extremely dangerous combatants in their own right, Gregor the elder of the two is the bigger, more dangerous warrior. The Lannisters are a prudent bunch and they know all too well that their coin is well spent to ensure that Clegane is a subject and not an opponent. Oberyn Martell may have proven that the aptly nicknamed Mountain is far from agile but it must be remembered that the Red Viper is far quicker and more agile than the standard warrior. Against your run-of-the-mill swordsman, Clegane is virtually unbeatable. Westeros is a violent, inhospitable place but the ridiculously zealous Gregor makes the rest of the fantasy land's inhabitants look like Mahatma Gandhi. The Mountain has been predisposed towards shocking violence since an early age, as we learn when he seriously burns the face of his younger brother Sandor for playing with his toys. The Mountain and his reputation as one of the most violent men in all of the Seven Kingdoms is sure to strike fear in the hearts of all but the greatest warriors. Landing a killing blow against the heavily armoured Clegane is nigh on impossible instead it is necessary to chip away at him but during this process the likelihood is that he will land the killing blow.
