How Better Call Saul Season 4 Ending Connects To Breaking Bad

6. What Happens

Better Call Saul Jimmy McGill
AMC

Following on from last week's decision to get Jimmy his licence back, he and Kim work the system: donating money in Chuck's name and creating a scholarship to honour his legacy, before going big on the appeal. It ends with a big emotional speech that uses Chuck's letter to serve Jimmy's character, but was, ultimately, all a means to the end of Jimmy, who has succeeded in getting his licence back.

Mike, meanwhile, has to follow Werner to Russia after he did a runner the week before. We'd been told all along that Kai was the problem in the lab, and there's a sadness in what comes with Werner, who simply wants to spend time with his wife and misses home, and has to pay with his life.

Also heavily involved in that storyline is Lalo, the mysterious Salamanca with a big interest in Gus' business, and to whom Werner inadvertently reveals some details about the lab, which only further signs his death warrant.
