Legion: 9 Ways It's A Totally Unique Comic Book TV Show

1. The Examination Of Mental Health

Other comic book shows have dealt with mental health issues before, most notably Jessica Jones, which tackled abuse, depression, and PTSD.

Not to downplay those elements of Jones, which work brilliantly, but Legion takes it to another level, with a serious examination of mental health. This is in many ways what the show is about, rather than having a character with those being elements of them.

The show is genuinely interested in exploring these avenues, posing both big questions about mental illness and exhibiting concern for the characters and what they may be dealing with.

It tackles elements such as medication and care, and the stigma that still exists around mental health, in a grounded way, as well as the more reality-warping explorations of what's going on inside David's head.
