Legion Season 2: Ranking Every Character From Worst To Best

8. The Narrator

One of the biggest changes to Legion's format in season 2 was the introduction of the Narrator. Standing apart from the overarching narrative, Jon Hamm's silky-smooth tones typically popped up for at least one scene per episode, in which the unseen voiceover would discuss a form of mental health disorder that is prevalent in everyday life.

The Narrator's role reached a peak in Chapter 15, as his lessons tied into the delusion creature that caused havoc in Division 3. After David dealt with the monster, Hamm's role diminished, though he still turned up a couple more times to offer more musings on the nature of reality and the mind.

The Narrator hasn't generally been viewed too favourably with fans, who felt that Hamm's pieces both interrupted the flow of the episodes and were a little too on-the-nose - effectively, the scenes saw Hamm explaining the theme of the week. That said, Hamm's role added another layer to proceedings and it could be interesting to see the Narrator played with some more in season 3.
