Lost: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
5. Season 5 - "The One With All The Time Jumps"
Best Episode Of The Season: Episode 08 - LaFleur
After Season 3's shocking revelation that some of the Survivors had made it off the Island, and Season 4 revealed how and why that occurred, it was the fifth season's task to present to audiences how the Oceanic Six would return to the elusive land.
Ben Linus' bold move of literally moving The Island sets half of the fifth season's storyline up as a time-jumping escapade where those left behind to wander through the greatest hits of the Dharma Initiative and The Others' history. An immediate criticism of the fifth season comes in the form of the show splitting its time between the present day and the past in unnerving fashion.
The left-behind storyline on the Island is arguably the better story in the season, and Jack's attempts to rally the Oceanic Six together feels like a poor heist movie that doesn't pay off as well as you'd hope.
The second half of the season does pay off with a few good character developments - turning Sayid into a vengeful child-killer, Sawyer uses his con-man charm to rise up as a leader, and even Kate steps up as a less-than one-dimensional hero for once.
But in the end, the fifth season is still a weak one. And could have done with a few good writers.
