Netflix Witcher Trailer: 10 Details You Totally Missed
6. King Foltest's Quest?
Perhaps a shot in the dark (literally, looking at the scene in question), but this early shot of what looks like a striga reminds me of "The Witcher" short story from The Last Wish compilation - or it could be a nod to the "Night to Remember" CG trailer that advertised The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.
In "The Witcher" book story, Geralt is hired by King Foltest of Vizima, to try and cure his daughter, who is turning into a violent striga at night; devouring the townsfolk and slicing them to ribbons. Geralt goes through a supremely bloody battle trying to turn the creature human again, and almost kills himself, eventually succeeding.
Though it's a short scene in the new trailer, any on-screen imagery of Geralt doing battle through the night with a long-fingered creature roaring in a primal way, makes me think the show could be paying tribute to this particular tale.
Granted, the creature he faces in the CG game trailer was a bruxa, but at this stage we're yet to see what Netflix's take on the series bestiary looks like.
