Orange Is The New Black: 10 Things You Need To Know About Ruby Rose
1. Her Designs Help Stop Sex Trafficking
To add one more item on the list of things she excels at, Rose has also designed fashion collections for different labels. Her first collection was for Milk and Honey, the Texan street-wear brand that was, at the time, trying to penetrate the Australian market.
The collection reflected Rose's personal style and featured washed jeans, leather jackets and quirky T-shirts and targeted 15 to 25-year-olds. A shoe collection in collaboration with street footwear brand Gallaz was launched soon after.
Impressed? Even better things followed last year as Rose graduated from designing boyfriend tees to collaborating with fiancee Phoebe Dahl's ethical clothing company Faircloth and Supply, which makes timeless pieces from linen that is referred to as 'dead material', having reached the end of the yard.
With every item of clothing bought, the company donates money towards school uniforms and supplies - and one scholarship - to girls in Nepal. So far, over 1500 girls have benefited; Dahl founded the clothing line with the aim of reducing the number of Nepalese women who are forced into sexual slavery.
In the meantime, Rose's collaboration on the 2014 collection saw the label take a different direction with brightly coloured, androgynous designs that were a daring departure from the label's signature classics.
