2. Was The Magical Chicken Just An Illusion?

One of our personal favourite episodes of Orange Is the New Black is season one episode five's 'The Chickening', when Piper spots a mysterious chicken and the entire jail population go frog-in-a-box crazy trying to track it down. While going about her day-to-day prison life, Piper spots a chicken. She regales this story to her fellow inmates, and is mysteriously told to inform Red, who is equally-mysteriously excited about the sighting, and offers a reward to anyone who can track it down. Despite the girls' best efforts, the feathered bird proves illusory, and Piper soon goes out of her mind wondering if what she saw was real or, if in fact she is simply losing her marbles. We never quite get an answer to this question, nor how it got into the yard in the first place, and why Piper is the only one who is able to lay eyes on it. A second chicken sighting in season two would be most welcome, so we can put our minds to rest if nothing else.
