Ozark Season 4: 12 Questions That Must Be Answered

6. What Does The Cartel War Mean For Marty & Wendy?

Season three finally brought in the client Helen and the Byrdes have been working for. Rather than appear in a few brief scenes, one overarching thread of season three was the Navarro Cartel's war against their rival networks.

This leads into a very strange and unexpected relationship dynamic where Wendy is having direct phone conversations with Omar Navarro; some of them friendly and meaningful. But all the while a petrified Wendy spoke carefully as not to anger the dangerous employer.

After providing the FBI with information that would arrest members of the rival Cartel, the Byrdes prove their worth within Navarro's network. To seal the deal, Omar has Helen Pierce executed in front of them.

Omar's reason for having Helen killed might be related to Helen outliving her usefulness, and with Omar embracing Marty and Wendy and calling their future a partnership, it is likely they will be in a more trusted position with Omar next season.

This doesn't bode well, because as employees they were something of a safe distance from the Cartel wars. Bringing Marty and Wendy into the inner circle will certainly paint them as bigger targets for anyone looking to dismantle Navarro- legally or through more violent means.

I overthink a lot of things. Will talk about pretty much anything for a great length of time. I'm obsessed with General Slocum from the 2002 Spider-Man film. I have questions that were never answered in that entire trilogy!
