4. John McCain

John McCain appeared in the same episode as Barbara Boxer and Olympia Snowe (what an episode it was), but definitely denotes his own section just for the hilarity of his cameo. You might know McCain as a previous-presidential-candidate-rivalling-Barack-Obama, but since his loss he's gone back to being an Arizona Senator (in case you were wondering). He is also no stranger to comedy appearances - he took part in an episode of Saturday Night Live, working again with Amy Poehler, poking fun at his own presidential campaign in 2008. After her garbled encounter with Boxer and Snowe, Leslie breaks down in tears and runs to hide in the cloakroom. Behind her enters McCain, evidently coming in to retrieve his coat, but when he sees Leslie crying he asks her if she's alright and if he can do anything to help. Leslie doesn't even turn to look at him, saying curtly "I would like you to just leave". McCain apologies, and does just that as Leslie laments people's lack of respect for personal space, totally unaware that the Senator tried to help her. This cameo was immensely enjoyable if just because it was so surprising, and so brief. By the time you could realise who it was consoling Leslie, he was gone, and knowing Leslie she would've been ecstatic to meet such a high-profile political figure. Amy Poehler said of McCain that, "he has a great sense of humour about himself ... he's kind of a blast". With that kind of endorsement, were McCain to run for president again (with "he's kind of a blast" as his campaign tagline, obviously) there's little doubt that he'd win.
