The announcement that an angel would be amongst the main cast of the Preacher show is sort of surprising. After all, Gods emissaries on Earth are seen to be mostly useless throughout the comics, a powerless and ineffectual lot who do bugger all to help with the various occult conflicts that occur during the series. Apparently British actor Tom Brooke, seen in everything from Sherlock to The Young Victoria to the second Bridget Jones film, will nonetheless be part of the main cast as the angel Fiore, who is tasked with keeping an eye on the half-angel, half-demon Genesis creature who fuses with Jesse Custer and gives him his God-like powers. In the comics Fiore is an Adelphi angel paired with deBlanc, who are sent to Earth not only to watch other Genesis but to retrieve him. They appear right at the start of the series, admitting that God has abdicated his heavenly throne and setting off the whole plot. They then dont show up until the end, when theyre coke-head nymphomaniacs. Interesting character arc.
