Scream: 10 Problems Season 2 Needs To Fix

2. Fewer Red Herrings

For a series built around a mystery of who the killer is, it makes sense for Scream to have some red herrings, but Season 1 takes that so ridiculously over the top. Literally every single character in this freaking show has some sort of dark thing about them that makes them a suspect, which would be okay if it was done in an elegant fashion, but it just comes across as the writers wasting time until they get to their reveal.

One episode, you're spending the entire time being presented with all this information about how Audrey is definitely the killer, while MTV sticks #IsItAudrey on the screen, and then at the last second, nope, she's not. Oh no, look, now Mr. Branson is for sure the killer! They found evidence in his classroom and everything! Nope, he's innocent. It's Jake though, right? Nah, he's just so hilariously suspicious every single second that he's on screen, but he didn't do anything.

Season 2 should still keep up some red herrings, but only in moderation. A bit of misdirection is okay, but it got to the point where it felt like Scream was nothing but misdirection, which becomes even more annoying when all the while the real killer is painfully obvious.
