Not only that, but it’s implied that the video wasn’t just popular in Lakewood; it made an impact all over the world. There’s a scene where Piper, the podcast host, says she recognizes Audrey from somewhere. Audrey replies that Piper probably saw her viral video.
Once again this video is just of two girls kissing in a parking lot. Yet it became so viral because it’s just so scandalous that someone who’s not even from this town would have seen it? Online bullying is a real problem, and maybe you can buy into the fact that people in this individual high school would make fun of Audrey and Rachael just to be jerks. But the idea that such an innocent video somehow sent shockwaves throughout the world is pretty questionable.
