Scream Season 2 Review: 7 Ups & 6 Downs
6. Season 1's Cliffhanger Keeps Things Tense
Season 1 ended with a cliffhanger that suggested Audrey had some level of involvement with or knowledge of Piper's massacre, and Season 2 does a great job following that thread, especially early on.
Knowing that there's something fishy about Audrey and how close other characters get to finding out exactly what that is generates a huge amount of tension, with those opening episodes in particular really milking the suspense.
We'll say no more than that, but safe to say, it captures Wes Craven's signature nail-biting tension much better than the first season.
