The Simpsons - 10 Classic Easter Eggs You Probably Missed In Season 17

4. Mr. Burns Is Related To One Of The Show's Writers - The Seemingly Never-Ending Story

In its later seasons The Simpsons has regularly gone for episodes that diverge from the typical sitcom structure. Normally it's a Treehouse Of Horror style anthology, but ocassionally there's something more creative, like this Emmy-award nominated episode (told you there were still some gems in here). Telling a series of interlocked stories a la Trilogy Of Error and 22 Short Films About Springfield, the plot is too winding (and built on happenstance) to fully explain here. What's important is that Mr. Burns loses his fortune to the Rich Texan and winds up sleeping in a cemetery, where there's a bunch of Burns' tombstones. Most of these are just pretty standard names, but ones a delightful call-out to one of the show's writers, J. Stewart Burns, who joined the team in 2003.
