6. Chain Of Command
Not only does the Discovery crew get fancy new 32nd century combadges, but Michael Burnham gets her old, command division uniform back. However, judging by the rank pips on her insignia, Michael will continue in Season 3 as a commander and Saru will finally get the promotion to captain he's deserved since the end of Season 1 – four pips on his insignia, gold shoulders on his uniform and all.
Star Trek: Discovery has loved to tease us with the question of who would take the center seat for good and while Saru might end up being Captain Saru in Season 3, we're not saying this means he'll finally be the permanent commander of the USS Discovery.
But we're also not not saying that either.
