Star Trek Picard: Everything You Need To Know About The Borg

1. The Borg of the Future

What remains to be seen is where Star Trek Picard is going to take the Borg into the 25th century. The Borg are clearly still operating as the characters on board the Artifact show real apprehension at the idea of the Collective regaining contact with the former drones on board.

What is the purpose of the experiments that the Romulans are conducting? What is Hugh's role in all of this? How will Seven's journey connect her back to the goings-on of the Romulan scientists.

One thing is certain - at this point in Star Trek's narrative, the Borg are still out there. They may have been severely weakened by Janeway's attack and the destruction of another Queen but they are not gone. Their space is vast and their technology is immense. If the Borg ever do decide to come in force, the Federation may not be able to put up much of a fight.

So what is Maddox's plan by introducing Soji to the Artifact and is it a way to finally defeat the Collective once and for all? Only time will tell. What is very exciting is the notion of Seven of Nine and Jean Luc Picard sitting down together, the two foremost experts on Borg behaviour and thinking.

If that doesn't reinvigorate the Borg in Star Trek, nothing can!
